Scripture Reading - Matthew 27:45-56

We refer to this day as “Good Friday.” This was the darkest day in history, as the perfect Son of God was murdered on a cross. Why, then, do we call it good?

List everything that happened when Jesus died.
(darkness over the whole land, the Temple curtain was torn in two, the whole earth shook, the rocks were split, the tombs were open, the saints were raised from the dead)

ReadHebrews 10:19-22.

What was the purpose of the Temple curtain?
(It kept common people out of the place known as the Holy of Holies.)

The Holy of Holies was the place where the Spirit of God dwelt. Why do you think it is important that the curtain was torn in two?
(Because there is now no separation between God and man. All who trust in Christ can come to God through Jesus’ sacrifice.)

The death of Jesus demonstrates the tremendous cost that God was willing to pay in order to forgive our sins. Our response should be to give our lives in service to Jesus.
(Parents, invite your children to respond by repenting of sin and trusting in Jesus Christ alone as their Lord and Savior.)
