Clothed in the Righteousness of Christ get_app

Published: April 7, 2020

The chief priests and the Pharisees began to question Jesus’ authority. Jesus spoke to them in parables to show them that their rejection of him as Messiah would prevent them from entering the kingdom of the God.

Scripture Reading - Matthew 22:1-14

In the parable, what happens to those who refuse to come and celebrate the wedding of the King’s son and those who killed his servants?
(The King destroyed them.)

Who do you think the parable refers to as the King?
(God)

Who do you think the parable is referring to as the Son of the King?
(Jesus)

Who do you think the Kings servants were who told of the feast and were killed?
(the prophets)

Who did the King eventually invite to the celebration?
(all who would come)

What about the man who showed up with no wedding garment? What happened to him?
(He was cast out.)

What does it seem like was the only requirement to attend the wedding?
(to have the proper clothes)

This parable tells us that anyone can come to faith in Christ, regardless of their background, as long as they have been clothed with the righteousness of Christ. People from every tribe and tongue and nation will be gathered together by God to celebrate his Son. The only requirement is that they be clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Everyone who turns from sin and places their faith in Christ alone will trade in their filthy rags for the perfect righteousness of Christ (2 Cor 5:21). God is calling rich and poor, old and young, men and women, people from all walks of life to trade in their filthy rags for the righteousness of Christ.
