The first thing that Jesus did upon entering Jerusalem was to enter the Temple to worship. The following is the account of Jesus’ interaction with those who were already there.

Scripture Reading - Matthew 21:12-17

Why was Jesus so upset about what was going on in the Temple?
(The Temple is a sacred place of worship and they were using it for profit. It wasn’t so much that what they were doing was wrong, selling animals to travelers for Temple worship, as the fact that they were doing it in the Temple which is to be a sacred place of worship.)

Was Jesus wrong to do what he did?
(NO; Jesus is passionate for the glory of the Lord and he was right to be consumed with anger against those who showed no concern for the Lord.)

How does this change the way that you think about your own attitude in worship?

The Bible says that your body is a temple of God (1 Cor 6:19).
Do you think that you are using your body to glorify God as you ought to?

Worship should be the most important thing in our life; and, while we are to be constantly offering our bodies as living worship (Rom 12:1-2), we are also called to be faithful to the corporate worship of the church (Heb 10:25). Corporate worship should be the highlight of our week, it should be more important than ballgames or social events, more important than sleep.

Have each family member think of things that they can do to make worship a greater priority in their life.
