The First Day of New Creation - Saturday get_app

Published: August 22, 2020

God created the world and everything that filled it in six days. On the seventh day, God rested. There was no new creation after the sixth day, yet Scripture speaks of a new creation. The day that Jesus rose from the dead was the first day of the new creation. In that moment, God created a new people, and Scripture speaks of the day when he will create a new heavens and new earth as well.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Ephesians 4:20-24>.

  • What does 2 Corinthians claim has come in Christ?
    (new creation)
  • What does the passage from Ephesians say we should do?
(put off the old self and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God)

Read Revelation 21:1-5.

  • Spend some time meditating on the new creation that is yet to come.

This Sunday, remember that we gather to celebrate and worship God on Sunday because it was on the first day of the week that Jesus began the new creation. In the old creation, God created the place and then the people; but it the new creation, he is creating the people and then the place.

Close in prayer, thanking God for his new act of creation seen in the resurrection of Jesus.
